Welcome Amazing Books and Records!

In June, 2017, Amazing Books and Records will grace us at the Schwartz Living Market Building@ 1317 East Carson Street with their presence! We're so excited!

Here's a link to the recent article in City Paper's Blog: http://www.pghcitypaper.com/Blogh/archives/2017/04/20/amazing-books-to-expand-to-pittsburghs-south-side-add-writing-classes

As Amazing Books and Records settles in, we continue working behind the scenes Greening up our building at 1317 East Carson Street to lead us into our Regenerative Future. The idea is we are modeling "the more beautiful future we all know is possible." Thank You Charles Eisenstein for that phrase! :)

We continue to document the Materials Petal of the Living Building Challenge. The Living Building Challenge. What is That? Well, the idea is this: How do you create a building that is as beautiful as a flower and functions as efficiently and effectively? There are seven petals and 20 imperatives to the challenge. Zero Net or Positive Energy, Zero Net or Positive Water, Materials, Beauty, Equity, Health and Site. Check out the International Living Futures Institute web site at ILFI.org for more details. The idea is to leave the Extraction economy of oil and gas behind and move seamlessly into our Regenerative, Restorative Future NOW! We have been a Transition Town Project, Living Building Challenge Registered Project from the get go since we began this process in 2010!

See The Transition Handbook, by Rob Hopkins to learn about powering down and be sure to check out Paul Hawken's newest book Drawdown. It turns out, there's lots more jobs to be had in the Solar, Wind and Building Renovation sectors than in the dwindling Oil and Gas Economy. So, remember to speak these truths to your family and friends, Divest from Oil and Gas, and here we go gliding into the future NOW!

Currently  at 1317 East Carson Street, we are going for Living Building Challenge Petal Recognition for the front 4600 feet of our 18,000 square foot building with its cold prep kitchen. We plan to complete an overall plan for the entire building. If you'd love to join us on the journey and have resources of any kind to donate, monetary, or otherwise, let us know! There's lots more to write about, so until next time,

Happy Springtime and we'll see you on May 28, 2017, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Open Streets PGH sponsored by BIKEPGH and others:)

Blessings, Peace, Love, Shalom & Namaste, y'all,

Elisa Beck:)

Schwartz Living Market ROCKS! November 2016 AMAZING EVENTS!:)

Lovingkindness, Peace, Healthful Living and Unity are my buzzwords for the rest of my life! This roller coaster ride is just beginning. I'm in, with my intentions set. Understanding this is going to be the wild ride of our lifetimes and getting excited about all of it. I'm praying for the enlightenment of this new administration. With that will come an immediate capping of the the stacks on the coal fired power plants, not just in Pittsburgh, but in the entire country so greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by 80%.  The amazingly quick movement to not just Sustainable, but REGENERATIVE lifestyles....Erin Brockovich is already helping us remotely and who knows, perhaps she'll be visiting this region before we know it to work with us on some proposed toxic choices for this Western PA region! With that will come the removal of subsidies to the oil and gas industries and subsidies to the already existing technologies of Hydrogen, Sun, and Wind, those technologies that have been with us since the beginning of time! Modeling Healing and Wellness from the inside out is our game and the part we play in the heart of Pittsburgh's Entertainment District!!!
I pray for a smooth ride, with a few bumps and unexpected sharp turns, with lots and lots of drug- free adrenaline rushes and calm moments! So many will release so much pain and trauma and move on and into the meaning of why they were put on this planet Earth at this moment in time. How much more exciting can things get y'all?!

Peace, Love and Blessings for all of us and for Panchamama, Planet Earth and all her inhabitants:),

 Earth, by Elisa Beck :)

As our Inner Ecosystem
As the Spaceship Earth
As the Present, the Future and the Past
As the rivers flow
and the fluids flow in our bodies
and in the
bodies
of all forms
of Life
the blood
the lymph
the single cells of hemoglobin flowing
through
our arteries
and veins
through the cytoplasm, the ecoplasm, the plasma
the chlorophyll
the SUN powers all of this and all of it

The beautiful Spaceship
called Earth
with all its
majesty
colors
sights
smells
The Perception
we hold
is ours
to form
Our thoughts
CREATE
OUR REALITY
So shift your thoughts towards Positivity
Creativity
Blissful wonder
& let's
CREATE
together
through
how we act
towards

Understanding the Cause of Health with Amanda Maloney.
Natural Hygiene is literally the science of health. It is about identifying the cause or causes of a disease, as opposed to simply diagnosing and attempting (futilely) to cover up symptoms. By addressing the causes, it is therefore the next logical step to stop doing what is causing the problems, whether it be rooted emotionally, physically, spiritually, or mentally. A common factor in many people's dis-ease is diet, a close second being exercise, and a third certainly being sleep/meditation.  There are many factors that create (or destroy) health, and they all need to be addressed. Sunshine, fresh air, connection with others and relationships, love of nature, are all important examples.
--5:40-6:40--
Improvisational Dance with Anna Thompson and Taylor Knight
A workshop to guide and connect with movers and 'non-movers' alike through a workshop exploring imagery and musically driven creation. Stay Tuned! There is much more to share, so keep checking back to this blog entry. This is an interesting first. blogging when I'm not done with the blog. When people ask what are we doing in the space, I used to get upset. Now I ask them, 'what are you doing'? What would you like to manifest? And then I often ask them what are their gifts? Or, I know what their gifts are, and ask them to share with one another and the South Side community, and beyond. And they say to me, "But I'm not ready." Hey, this blog entry is not ready, but I'm posting it anyway because it is a beginning and then if you are curious, please check back!!! Elisa Beck :)
